Feral Chef — operated by Northbridge Studios LLC, doing business as Feral Chef ("we", "us"), in the United States — turns photos of your ingredients into recipes. We keep data collection to the bare minimum. Here is exactly what happens.
01What We Process & Where It Goes
When you run a food or expiration-label scan, the photo you capture is securely transmitted to our servers and then to OpenAI, our third-party cloud AI provider, to identify food or read a printed date and produce a result. We do not intentionally store your scan photo in Feral Chef after the request is processed. We do not sell your photos, use them for advertising, or use them to train our own models. OpenAI processes scan content under its own applicable terms and policies.
02Camera Access
The app requests camera permission only when you choose to photograph ingredients or a printed food-date label. You decide when the camera is used, and you can revoke access at any time in your device settings.
03On-Device Data
Your saved recipes, scan history, free-scan usage, and preferences are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers, and deleting the app removes them.
04Service Security & Quotas
To operate the scan allowance, prevent abuse, and restore access, our service may process a randomized app/device identifier, a server-issued scan token, your IP address at registration or for legacy quota checks, scan-count and timing records, and limited operational diagnostics such as request route and status. These records are not tied to a name, email address, or account profile, and we use them to operate and secure the service rather than for advertising.
05Subscriptions & Payments
Feral Chef offers optional Monthly and Lifetime in-app purchases. Payments are processed by the Apple App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android; we never receive or store your credit-card or payment details. RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider, processes a pseudonymous app user identifier and purchase/entitlement status so the app can grant and restore Feral Pass access. We do not link those records to your name or contact information.
06What We Don't Do
- No account or sign-up required.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show third-party ads or track you across other apps.
07Children
Feral Chef is not directed at children under 13.
08Maturity & Alcohol Notice
Feral Chef is rated 17+ / Mature. Because the application utilizes an AI machine-learning vision model to analyze physical objects captured by your camera, it may recognize and generate recipes containing or referencing alcoholic beverages based on your inputs. Feral Chef does not intentionally promote, market, or encourage underage drinking or alcohol misuse.
09Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of Feral Chef after an update means you accept the revised policy.
